Today, we will talk about Tristam Stuart. He is an international award-winning author, speaker and campaigner. His TED (Tristram Stuart: The global food waste scandal) talk has been watched over a million times, and he also founded an environmental campaigning organisation, Feedback.
—- “It opened my eyes to the scale of the global food waste scandal.” —-
At the age of 15, he bought some pigs and fed them on the leftovers of the school canteen and from other local businesses. Then, as an environmentalist, he knew that to grow more food, rain forests were cutting down and still billions of people remains hungry.
In 2009, he launched “Feeding the 5000”. This free public feast of food that would otherwise be wasted has been replicated around the world.

“Banquets des 5000 Paris” returns and is going to be a bonanza event designed to bring together an alliance of organizations in Paris to raise awareness of the scale of food waste in Paris, France and globally and to promote the uptake of positive solutions to the problem. Taking place at Place de la République on the 27th September, It will make a statement regarding the COP21 climate change conference, and the need to act now on the global scandal of food waste.
