5 Simple Steps to Staying Sane this Holiday Season
The holiday season is upon us with only days left until the 25th. If you’re ready to pull your hair out, you’re not alone. Don’t let the festive season get you down. Follow these tips to relax and enjoy yourself.
1. Avoid social pressure
A big contributor to holiday stress comes from the long list of social obligations that the season brings. We feel pressure to show up and worry about letting people down. Do yourself a favor and don’t try to cram too much in. Decide what’s most important to you and plan for those activities. Learning to say no will go a long way to making your holidays more enjoyable.
2. Don’t obsess over gifts
Racking your brain to find the perfect gift for someone is enough to drive anyone crazy. Take a moment and ask yourself, ‘Do you remember any of the gifts you exchanged last year’? 4. Get your sleep
Sleep improves your memory, focus and mood. If you’re not getting enough shuteye, you will feel the effects immediately. Your sleep pattern can get disrupted during the busy holiday time, but try to continue going to bed at a reasonable and consistent hour.
5. Know when to stop
Remind yourself that everything does not need to be perfect. With so many elements to coordinate during holiday celebrations, sometimes things won’t go exactly as you planned. It’s okay. Try to let go and just enjoy yourself. Remember, this is a holiday for rest and relaxation too.
